what is e governance

Electronic governance is called e-governance for short. It is a method or system that transforms the activities of the government into electronic or digitized form and establishes direct communication of the people with the government. Digitized information or documents are shared with different mediums of information technology. E-governance activities may include file digitization, data collection through database, processing and dissemination to the public if necessary, data collection and distribution via web or internet, provision of web based services such as: downloading and filling out application forms, paying electricity or telephone bills, tenders. Processing etc.

The full form of e-governance is Electronic Governance. It is a method or system that transforms the activities of the government into electronic or digitized form and establishes the direct link of the government with the people. Digitized information can be shared by different organizations through different mediums of information technology.

E-governance is the application of digital system in government activities and processes. In the past, collecting public exam results, especially SSC or HSC exam results, was a matter of embarrassment for candidates and parents. But now with the advent of information and communication technology, the results are known through internet and even SMS on mobile phones. Re-evaluation of test results is also being applied for online now and the results are available very fast. Another example of e-governance in the field of education is the online application for college admissions. Students no longer need to take college entrance exams. Students can apply online for admission to the college of their choice from anywhere. Students can even apply for admission through SMS on mobile.

At present all the information of different universities is available through the website and the admission application is being submitted online and the admission process is being completed.

As a result of digitization of information, all the services are now available in the office of the Deputy Commissioner in a short time, at low cost and without any hassle. Whereas before it used to take 2/3 weeks to get some services, now it is only available in 2-5 days. Not only this, with the help of digitalization of information, it takes 80-90 percent less time to make a decision. In addition to increasing transparency and accountability in the provision of services, the capacity of the department concerned in providing fake documents and pamphlets has also been increased by 40 percent. Another example of civil harassment is the payment of bills for services. The traditional method of paying electricity, gas, water, etc. is very time consuming and painful, in some cases a whole working day would be spent on paying the electricity bill or gas bill. But now this bill can be paid on mobile phone or online. The key to e-governance is to improve the quality of life of citizens and keep them free from harassment. Some activities can be turned into 24 ৭ ৭ 365 days through eGovernance. As a result, citizens can receive services at their convenience.
