The full meaning of DDR is double data rate. This is a RAM memory technology - which is currently used in most computers as random access memory.

Memory makers use this technology to speed up their chips without increasing the clock rate.

DDR's family includes DDR, DDR Two, DDR Three and DDR Four. DDR delivers one hundred million chunk of data per second. DDR 2 delivers 200 million, DDR 3 300 million, and DDR 4 400 million.
